Prepare moulds and dies

Assessment tool

Version 1.0
Issue Date: May 2024

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to prepare moulds, dies, frames and cases to make products from materials, such as concrete, clay and ceramics. It applies to both large production and smaller craft contexts.

This unit applies to experienced operators who are required to take responsibility for own outputs and follow established procedures to make the items to ensure product is to specifications and prepare them for use. Operators are also required to work autonomously and apply their own judgement to interpret information; monitor processes; identify and address routine and non-routine problems and control hazards.

The experienced operator may work alone or as part of a team or group and in liaison with other shift team members, team leader and supervisor.

No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

You may want to include more information here about the target group and the purpose of the assessments (eg formative, summative, recognition)

Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
